Varanasi: Govt suspended a tax superintendent on charges of submitting fake documents to show a woman's mother-in-law, father-in-law and husband as deceased in order to transfer a house to her name.
Municipal commissioner Akshat Verma sent a recommendation to suspend tax superintendent Munna Lal Ram, citing adverse entries against him for adding names based on fraudulent documents for properties numbered S0 3/12 and 3/14 in Dithori Mahal area of Ardali Bazaar. His salary was also withheld pending further orders. After investigation, govt suspended Munna Lal Ram. Regional tax inspector Kunwar Vikram Singh, was also suspended in the same case.
According to municipal authorities, Vinod Kumar Singh, a relative, filed application with the municipal commissioner, alleging that Arpana Singh had applied for transfer title of a house in her name by falsely showing her father-in-law Pramod Kumar Singh, mother-in-law Rajkumari Singh and husband Manish Singh as deceased. The municipal corporation transferred the house to Arpana Singh's name, despite the fact that Pramod Kumar Singh is alive and retired govt employee receiving pension while Manish Singh is working as an MD in a private company. Vinod Kumar Singh requested re-investigation of the case. Municipal commissioner ordered investigation, which revealed that Arpana had obtained death certificates fraudulently for all three from Jaunpur Municipal Corporation and submitted them, along with other fake documents, to facilitate the transfer of title.
Verma ordered zonal officer of trans Varuna to file FIR against Arpana Singh for using forged documents and declaring living persons as deceased.
Additionally, Munna Lal Ram issued a notice under Section 213 beyond his jurisdiction, for which his salary was withheld and a letter was sent to govt for suspension. Director of local bodies reviewed the case and based on the municipal commissioner's recommendation, suspended Munna Lal Ram, associating him with the directorate. Additional director Ritu Suhas was appointed investigation officer for the entire case.
