Uppinangady police have arrested a 35-year-old man, Mohammad Rafeeq, for attempting to steal cash from a private ATM centre in Kalleri near Karaya village.
The accused had broken into an ATM operated by India One, located inside the Tanneerupanta Agricultural Co-operative Society building in Kalleri. Rafeeq dismantled the CCTV cameras and attempted to break open the ATM to steal the cash in the machine.
Originally a resident of Kajoor, Rafeeq was staying at his wife’s residence in Kuppett. Police tracked and apprehended him from there.
Investigations into the case are ongoing.
