NEW DELHI: The government on Wednesday said that India exercised its right to neutralise terrorists and their infrastructure following the precision strikes carried out on 9 locations of Pakistan and Pakistan occupied Kashmir.
During the press briefing, foreign secretary Vikram Misri said Pahalgam terrorist attack has exposed the links of Pakistan with terrorists.
"As you all know, on April 22, Pakistani and Pakistan-trained terrorist, associated with Lashkar-e-Taiba , launched a barbaric attack on tourists in Pahalgam. 25 Indians, and one Nepali citizen were cowardly murdered. This is the most serious incident since 2008 Mumbai attack considering that fact the civilians were attacked, " Misri said.
"A group called the Resistance Front has claimed responsibility for Pahalgam attack. This group is connected with Lashkar-e Taiba. Pakistan links have been established in this attack. On April 25, Pakistan's pressure to remove the reference to TRF from the media release shouldn't be ignored. Pahalgam terrorist attack has exposed the links of Pakistan with terrorists," he added.
'India exercised its right to respond'
Misri said that the intelligence indicated that further attacks were planned against India which compelled the governement to exercise its right to respond to deter such more cross-border terrorism .
"Our intelligence indicated that further attacks against India are impending. Thus, compulsion, both to deter and prevent and hence earlier this morning, India exercised its right to respond to deter such more cross-border terrorism. Our actions were measured and non-escalatory, proportionate and responsible. They focused on dismantling terrorists' infrastructure."
Describing Pakistan as a haven of terrorists, he said that the rogue nations continue to harbour them, despite being called out globally.
Citing the case of Sajid Mir, he said that the terrorists continue to enjoy immunity in Pakistan.
"Sajid Mir was declared dead, and after international pressure was built on Pakistan, he was brought to life again and arrested in Pakistan. This is the most glaring example of Pakistan's support and nurturing of terror elements on its soil," he said.
' Operation Sindoor launched to give justice to victims of Pahalgam attack'
Following Misri, Col Sofiya Qureshi said that the operation was launched to give justice to victims of Pahalgam terrorist attack. Nine terrorist camps were targeted and destroyed.
Qureshi, while addressing the media, presents videos showing multiple hits on the Mundrike and other terrorist camps in Pakistan and PoK. She said that the operation lasted for 25 minutes.

"Operation Sindoor was launched by the Indian Armed Forces to deliver justice to the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack and their families. Nine terrorist camps were targeted and successfully destroyed... The locations were so selected to avoid damage to civilian infrastructures and loss of any civilian lives," Wing Commander Vyomika Singh said.
This came hours after the Indian Army conducted targeted strikes, eliminating nine terrorist bases belonging to Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen during 'Operation Sindoor' across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir.
