The thrill of Formula 1 now moves to the streets of Jeddah as the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix gears up to take place from May 18–20. After the abrasive circuit of Bahrain, drivers are now set to test their mettle at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit. Max Verstappen , who finished a frustrating sixth in Bahrain due to persistent issues with his Red Bull, will be eager to bounce back. And there’s a silver lining for Red Bull fans—history is on their side. The team has won 75% of the races held in Jeddah.
All about the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix winnersThe Saudi Arabian Grand Prix is one of the newer additions to the F1 calendar, making its debut in 2021. Lewis Hamilton, driving for Mercedes at the time, won the inaugural race. Red Bull took over after that, with Sergio Perez (Checo) lifting the winner’s trophy in 2022. He was Max Verstappen’s teammate at the time. Verstappen then carried the momentum, going on to win in both 2023 and 2024. With Red Bull securing three of the four races held in Jeddah so far, it's safe to say the team has claimed 75 percent of the wins at this circuit.
As Formula 1 shared a fun trivia post on X highlighting Red Bull’s Jeddah success, fans flooded the comments section with mixed emotions. Many pointed out that this could signal the end of Red Bull’s dominance, especially with McLaren winning three of the four races so far this season. Verstappen, aiming for a hat-trick in Jeddah, faces tough odds after Bahrain.
One fan commented, “Smells like McLaren this weekend.” Another joked, “Unless a miracle happens, that’s gonna drop.” A more optimistic user wrote, “Max needs to pull off a quali similar to Japan for that to be remotely possible.” An X user also highlighted: “3 pole sitters at Jeddah: Perez, Hamilton, Verstappen. 3 Winners at Jeddah: Perez, Hamilton, Verstappen. Truly 3 of the drivers of all time.”
The trivia also sparked a nostalgic wave for Sergio Perez. “Checo! Come back,” read one of many comments mourning his absence.

Checo had a disappointing 2024 season and was subsequently replaced by rookie Liam Lawson at Red Bull. However, Lawson struggled to perform and was dropped after just two races. He was replaced by Japanese driver Yuki Tsunoda, who was brought in from Racing Bulls, with Lawson moving to that team to take Tsunoda's place. Tsunoda made his Red Bull debut at the Japanese Grand Prix but couldn’t leave an impression. He scored his first points for the team at the most recent race in Bahrain.
