Thousands of users reported that X, formerly known as Twitter, was down. The website Downdectector, which allows users to report issues on other sites, saw thousands of users report issues with X starting at about 3.45pm. Users reported issues in the US, Europe, the UK and elsewhere sparking fears of a global outage.
More than 18,000 people reported problems in the US, while that number was over 5,000 in the UK. Some users on Downdetector reported that the site wouldn't load for them. Others said that it had come back online after some time.
