Amazon regularly discounts its Fire TV Stick devices but it's not so often that the retailer puts its popular Fire tablets on offer, but that's what's happened this week. Right now you can pick up the Amazon Fire HD 10 10-inch Android tablet for just £60.99 in what Amazon has labelled a "limited time deal".
That's a massive 55 percent saving on the usual £134.99 price.
To be clear, this deal is for a 'Certified Refurbished' tablet, which means it's a unit that has been bought and returned to Amazon, most likely within the 30-day return window. But Amazon refurbishes the tablets to make sure they are virtually indistinguishable from new stock - it's a good way to save some hard-earned money.
This version of the Fire HD 10, which is the latest one launched in 2023, comes with 32GB storage and 3GB RAM. That's quite skimpy specs but if all you want an Android tablet for is to stream movies and TV shows on apps such as Prime Video, Netflix, Disney+ and BBC iPlayer, this will be an ideal affordable screen to do it on.
And given it's an Amazon device, you can also get the Kindle app and read all your Kindle e-books.
Amazon tablets can download scores of apps from the Amazon App Store, but it's worth noting you can't get Google apps. This is a limitation of Fire OS, the version of Android that Fire tablets run, so if you want a tablet to run Gmail, Google Docs or YouTube on, this isn't the one for you.
This affordable tablet also displays adverts on the lock screen, which is a bit of a pain, but if it doesn't bother you, £60.99 is certainly one of the cheapest prices you can get a 10-inch tablet with an HD screen for.

With a 5MP front facing camera, this tablet also works well as a video calling device, with apps such as Zoom. You can also easily use social media apps such as TikTok and Instagram if you would prefer a larger screen rather than accessing them on a smartphone.
This is also a good tablet to give to a child as the Amazon Kids+ service offers parental controls on this and all Fire tablets. You do need to subscribe, but then your child can get hold of thousands of books, apps, games and videos, with you being safe in the knowledge it's all suitable for their age.
Not only that, with Alexa built in the tablet can be used as a smart speaker to read stories, jokes, the time, the headlines or to control smart devices you might have such as lights.
Amazon doesn't say how long this deal will last, but £60.99, a 55 percent saving on the tablet's £134.99 RRP is one of the best discounts for Fire tablets we've seen.
