Washington Black is coming to Disney Plus and Hulu soon and it is the perfect watch for fans of historical dramas.
The series is set in Barbados and Nova Scotia in the early 1800s and follows an 11-year-old boy called George Washington 'Wash' Black.
George is forced to flee his home on a sugar plantation in Barbados after a shocking death turns his life upside down.
He finds himself taken under the wing of Medwin Harris, who also had a traumatic childhood as a Black refugee in Nova Scotia.

The series will be available to watch on Disney Plus in the UK and Hulu in the US on July 23.

Disney Plus typically releases new titles at midnight in the US, which is 8am in the UK.

Who is in the cast of Washington Black?Ernest Kingsley Jr stars as the title character, with Eddie Karanja as young Washington Black.
Kingsley Junior is known for his roles in The Sandman and The Sparticle Mystery.
Tom Ellis stars as Christopher 'Titch' Wilde, and he is known for his roles in Miranda and Lucifer.
Sterling K. Brown plays Medwin Harris, and he also worked as an executive producer on the series.
Brown is known for his roles in This Is Us and Paradise.
Iola Evans plays Tanna Goff and she is known for her roles in Choose or Die and Out of Darkness.
Other stars include Julian Rhind-Tutt as Erasmus Wilde, Billy Boyd as Willard, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine as Gaius, Edward Bluemel as Billy McGee, Sharon Duncan-Brewster as Miss Angie and Rupert Graves as Mr Goff.
Rounding off the cast are Shaunette Renée Wilson as Big Kit, Charles Dance as James Wilde and Blaine Dorey as Porter.

The show is described as a miniseries, with the story being kept to one season only.
It is made up of eight episodes, which will all drop on the same day.
