Storm Amy tracker LIVE: Severe wind warnings as Met Office issues 'danger to life' alert

The Met Office has issued a new amber weather warning for Friday (October 3). The service has warned that "danger to life is likely" as Storm Amy approaches the UK. The warning, for part of Northern Ireland, will be in place between 3pm and 8pm tomorrow. County Antrim, County Fermanagh, County Londonderry and County Tyrone are included in the alert.

Forecasters said: "Storm Amy will bring a spell of damaging winds on Friday late afternoon and evening, perhaps causing some disruption." A separate amber weather warning is in place for Strathclyde on the west coast of Scotland, in place from 5pm on Friday until 9am on Saturday (October 4). Wind gusts of 70 to 80 mph are likely fairly widely distributed and may exceed 95 mph in more exposed areas. Larger yellow weather warnings for wind and rain now cover the entirety of the UK, after a new weather alert was issued for strong winds across parts of England and Wales on Friday afternoon, effective from midnight on Saturday until 7pm.
