Police have rushed to tape off an area in Manchester city centre after a man was found with life-threatening injuries. Officers are in attendance on Back Piccadilly and Spear Street, between Piccadilly Gardens and the Northern Quarter, with a cordon in place this morning (November 7).
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said its officers were called at 5.44pm on Thursday to a man with life-threatening injuries. He is in hospital in a critical condition. A woman has been arrested. Officers were then called to a second incident of a group chasing and threatening a man in the same area.
In response to Thursday evening's chaos, GMP have been given greater powers in an area around both incidents as they up their presence around the city centre.
