M1 traffic LIVE: Major motorway completely shut by police after serious incident

All traffic was temporarily held on both direction on the M1 on the afternoon of April 22. The closure was prompted by a police incident. On the Northbound, traffic was held from J4 in Elstree and J5 in Watford. Traffic was also held southbound between J6 in Bricket Wood and J5, National Highways said on Tuesday.

The organisation warned that motorists should expect . Traffic monitoring website Inrix also reported disruption, saying "long delays" should be expected between the J4 A41 and J5 A41 Colne Way.
