Fox News issued a breaking news alert on social media after the US President underwent a checkup on Friday. Since taking office in February, concerns have been raised over the 79-year-old Commander-in-Chief's health after he was photographed with bruised hands on several occasions and swollen ankles. More recently, Donald Trump was caught on camera struggling to stay awake with his face noticeably "drooping". Fox News reported Trump spent around three hours at the Walter Reed Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, this week where he underwent a "scheduled follow-up evaluation".
His doctor, Navy Captain Sean Barbabella, wrote in a one-page memo released on Friday night: "President Donald J. Trump remains in exceptional health, exhibiting strong cardiovascular, pulmonary, neurological and physical performance." Trump was given a Covid-19 booster vaccine and his annual flu shot. Barbabella also claimed Trump's cardiac age is around 14 years lower than his 79 years.
The visit was described as a "routine yearly checkup" in a White House update, but Trump underwent his annual check a few months ago in April.
His evaluation was designed to help prepare for Trump to travel overseas, with trips to the Middle East and Asia planned between now and the end of the month.
In July, the president was diagnosed with a vein condition known as chronic venous insufficiency. At the time, Leavitt said Trump had noticed "mild swelling" in his lower legs and was evaluated by the White House medical unit.
In a broadcast shared on LiveNow from Fox host Chris Boex interrupted his show to deliver a Trump update.
"It's a note from his doctor," he began. "President Trump successfully completed a scheduled follow up. This visit was part of his ongoing health maintainence."
Chris added: "President Trump is in excellent health. That is the latest from the White House."
It comes after Trump failed to show his face during a CNN interview - sparking fresh speculation over his health last week.
Viewers were left surprised after they tuned into the interview with the State of the Union host Jake Tapper on Sunday,to find that Trump was nowhere to be seen. Instead, the US President texted his answers in before the show began.
