BBC confirms future of two major Michael McIntyre shows after 'axe'

has been entertaining audiences since 2016 with show , which combines big name celebrity guests with humour and of course a game show theme. Guided by the famous experts, contestants will try their hands at winning a fortune while a spin of the famous wheel will determine their fate.

Express can now reveal that work on the sixth series of this beloved game show has already begun. The BBC has committed to two further series of the -nominated favourite. Meanwhile, Michael McIntyre's Big Show has also received the green light for two more series, which will take it to the milestone figure of ten series in total.

The show began during one of the most difficult moments in British history - a worldwide pandemic and global lockdown - but for the past few years, the entertainment it has provided has been an antidote to many.

The BBC has promised more "superstar guests, incredible musical performances and much loved features including 'Unexpected Star', 'Send to All' and 'Remember Me'" to come in the future, as it shows no signs of winding down.

The last series achieved almost six million viewers, confirming it as the most popular one since its debut in the Covid days - and it bodes well that viewer numbers remain high even now that lockdown is in the past.

McIntyre has now spoken out about the unprecedented success for both shows, revealing that he's "so proud".

"The Wheel was a show we made in lockdown while we couldn't film the Big Show, but it's become equally beloved," he explained.

With a dose of his trademark humour, he added: "Someone came up to me recently while I was walking the dog and said they "loved The Big Wheel". I have no idea whether they meant The Big Show, The Wheel or both shows. They may have just come from The London Eye?!"
