The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are gearing up for a massive transformation ahead of IPL 2026 — and this time, the flavor of the team could be quite different. Interestingly, LSG seems to be turning toward familiar faces from Kavya Maran’s Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) setup.
After bringing in former SRH captain Kane Williamson as a strategic advisor, the Lucknow franchise has now signed Tom Moody, another prominent figure from the Sunrisers camp.
Tom Moody Appointed Global Director of Cricket at LSG
LSG have appointed Tom Moody as their Global Director of Cricket, a role similar to that of Mahela Jayawardene at Mumbai Indians. As Global Director, Moody will oversee RPSG’s cricket operations across leagues like the IPL, SA20, and The Hundred.
While details about his salary remain undisclosed, his appointment is expected to bring fresh strategic direction and experience to the franchise. The Lucknow management believes Moody’s proven record in franchise cricket could help elevate the team’s performance.
Kane Joined Before Moody
Tom Moody’s entry marks the second high-profile addition from the Sunrisers Hyderabad family. Before him, Kane Williamson — who led SRH for several seasons — was appointed as Strategic Advisor to the Lucknow franchise.

Lucknow’s Journey So Far
The Lucknow Super Giants made their IPL debut in 2022 alongside the Gujarat Titans. While Gujarat went on to win the title in their maiden season, Lucknow is still chasing its first trophy.
With the addition of cricketing minds like Tom Moody and Kane Williamson, the franchise is clearly aiming to change that narrative in IPL 2026 — bringing new energy, new strategy, and a new flavor to the Super Giants.
