Kidneys are considered important to free the body from toxins, but when its functioning gradually starts decreasing, some signs appear which people often ignore. However, it is very important to understand these symptoms in time and consult a doctor.

Our kidneys help in removing toxins from the body. But when the functioning of the kidneys gradually starts decreasing, many small signs start appearing in the body, which we ignore considering them to be normal fatigue, age or lifestyle related problems.

This is the reason why kidney disease is often detected only when it reaches a serious stage. Therefore, it is important that we recognize these early signs and consult a doctor in time. So let us know from Dr. Shri Ram Kabra, Clinical Director of Nephrology and Kidney Transplant Medicine at Maringo Asia Hospitals, Faridabad , about some such early symptoms of kidney failure that are not paid attention to.

Frequent urination or changes in urine

Kidney problems can begin with a change in urination habits. Getting up frequently at night to urinate or a decrease or increase in the amount of urine can be a sign.

Foam or blood in urine

If the urine is foamy or blood is visible in it, these are serious signs that the kidneys are not filtration properly and protein or blood is coming out with the urine.

Constant feeling of fatigue

Kidney failure causes a deficiency of a hormone called erythropoietin in the body, which leads to fewer red blood cells and the person feels tired.

Swelling of the face or legs

The kidneys are unable to remove sodium and water properly, which can cause swelling in the body, especially in the face, ankles or feet.

Loss of appetite and nausea

When the kidneys are unable to remove toxins properly, these toxins begin to accumulate in the body, causing nausea, vomiting and loss of appetite.

Respiratory distress

Due to fluid accumulation in the body or anemia, less oxygen reaches the lungs, which can cause difficulty in breathing.

Itching or dryness of the skin

If the kidneys are unable to remove waste properly, the imbalance of phosphorus and other elements in the body can cause itching, dryness or rashes on the skin.

Ignoring these symptoms can lead to serious kidney disease in the future . Therefore, if any of these symptoms are seen continuously, it is important to get it checked by a doctor without delay. Proper care of the kidneys is helpful in keeping you healthy.
