The discovery of a human body on the M5 motorway has led police to shut down the entire route. said they have responded to two separate incidents on the M5 motorway after a body was found on the carriageway. Cops have now shut the road where the body was found, which was between Junction 3 at Quinton and Junction 2 at Oldbury. Emergency responders have also raced to the scene of a separate "serious" collision, which has lead to the road between Junction 1 and the M6 being closed off.
West Midlands Ambulance Service says the crash involved two motorcycles and a car. Both male motorcyclists sustained "serious" injuries, and have been taken to hospital for treatment.

Traffic monitoring service Inrix is reporting heavy traffic and severe delays due to the two incidents. Surveillance camera footage from above the road show huge queues blocking both carriageways. The cameras also show traffic officers blocking the northbound carriageway. The current tailbacks are four miles leading to 40 minute delays for motorists.

In a post on West Midlands Police said: "We are at the scene of two incidents on the M5 and it is currently closed in both directions at Oldbury/Quinton. It's shut J3 at Quinton to J2 at Oldbury after a body was found in the carriageway. Following a separate collision it's shut north between J3 and the M6."
A police spokesperson added the "serious incidents" could keep the motorway locked down for "some time". Drivers are being advised to adjust their plans and seek alternative routes.
A spokesperson said: "We are at the scene of two serious incidents on the M5 and the motorway is currently closed in both directions near Oldbury/Quinton.
"It is closed northbound and southbound between J3 at Quinton and J2 at Oldbury after a body was found in the carriageway at just after 10am today.
"Following a separate collision involving a motorcyclist, the motorway is now closed northbound between J3 at Quinton and the M6.
"The closures are expected to be in place for some time and drivers are advised to find alternative routes."
A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "Two men have been taken to hospital following an RTC involving two motorbikes and a car on the M5 this morning.
"West Midlands Ambulance Service was called at 9.55am to reports of a collision just after junction 1 of the M5 northbound in West Bromwich and sent two ambulances, a paramedic officer, a MERIT trauma doctor and critical care paramedic to the scene.
"On arrival, crews found the motorcyclists, both men, requiring medical attention. Ambulance staff treated both patients for serious injuries.
"One man was conveyed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital and the second man was conveyed to Midlands Metropolitan University Hospital for further treatment."
National Highways confirmed that emergency services are on the scene of a "secondary separate incident involving a serious collision" between J1, West Bromwich, and the M6 interchange.
They added: "Emergency services are in attendance. National Highways contractors and Traffic Officers are assisting with traffic management."
They added that the traffic is now being released from the rear of the queue.
National Highways has confirmed traffic caught up in congestion on the closed M5 is now beiing released from the rear of the queue.
"Traffic caught within the closure is in the process of being turned round and released via the rear of the queue," National Highways said.
