Charlotte is expected to appear again in court in two weeks. She has by a British man of Pakistani origin who she only knows by the first name Dan.
She claimed he bought the plane ticket for her and gave her a suitcase which he packed. Charlotte also claimed he gave her money to cover excess baggage fees and told her that one of the bags had clothing inside.
‘Dan’ is also alleged to have told her that Sir Lanka was a "lovely place for a holiday" and that they would have a "wonderful time" but he had to first remain in Bangkok to see a friend, before joining her.
The Brit spoke from behind bars to MailOnline, claiming she had "no idea" there were drugs in the suitcase and that they had been "planted". She said: "I had never seen them before. "I had been in Bangkok the night before and had already packed my clothes because my flight was really early. So I left my bags in the hotel room and headed for the night out.
"As they were already packed I didn't check them again in the morning. They must have planted it then." It is also claimed Charlotte said she had never visited Sri Lanka before, but police believe she came in January.
