World Championship of Legends: Indian players pull out of Pakistan match
The now-cancelled clash would have marked the first meeting between Indian and Pakistani cricketers since the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, which had escalated tensions between the two nations.
Reports suggest that several prominent Indian cricketers, including Harbhajan Singh, Suresh Raina, and Yusuf Pathan, were among the first to opt out of the match. Earlier, former opener Shikhar Dhawan had also confirmed his decision to skip the game due to the "prevailing geopolitical situation."
EaseMyTrip Withdraws Support From India vs Pakistan Match
Despite being a long-term sponsor of the WCL under a five-year agreement inked two years ago, EaseMyTrip has also firmly withdrawn its support from any cricket fixture involving Pakistan.
The company released a statement stating, “Despite entering into a 5-year sponsorship agreement with the World Championship of Legends (WCL) two years ago, our stance has always been clear—EaseMyTrip will not be associated with or participate in any WCL match involving Pakistan. We proudly continue to support the India Champions and stand firmly by our team,” the company announced in an official statement.
It further emphasized its position in a post on X: “However, as a matter of principle, we do not support or promote any match that includes Pakistan. This position was communicated unambiguously to the WCL team from the beginning. EaseMyTrip supports Team India, but will not engage in any match featuring Pakistan. Let’s bring the cup home. Bharat First. Always.”

WCL statement on cancellation of India vs Pakistan match
Following this, the WCL organizers confirmed the cancellation of the high-profile encounter, acknowledging the discomfort it had caused to Indian players and fans. The game was initially arranged in the spirit of recent cross-border sporting interactions, including a volleyball match and the scheduled visit of the Pakistan hockey team to India.

“We at WCL have always cherished and loved cricket, and our only aim has been to give fans some good, happy moments… More than that, we unintentionally caused discomfort to our Indian Cricket Legends, who have brought so much glory to the country, and we ended up affecting the brands who supported us purely out of love for the game,” the WCL said in a statement.
