Lucknow: Dr. Bhavtosh Biswas, an internationally renowned Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeon at Vivekananda Polyclinic and Institute of Medical Sciences in Lucknow, successfully performed a complex thoracic surgery, saving the life of a 55-year-old patient suffering from severe lung disease.
The patient had been undergoing treatment for tuberculosis for three years, but the condition worsened, leading to an accumulation of pus outside the lung, causing it to shrink and making breathing difficult. Dr. Biswas decided to perform a decortication procedure to remove the hardened layer of pus from around the patient's lung.
This successfully cleared the lung, restoring normal breathing. The patient has now made a full recovery. Dr. Bhavtosh stated that it was a challenging surgery with inherent risks to the patient's life, but it was completed successfully.
Swami Muktinathanand, the institute's secretary, affirmed that all possible assistance is provided for patient treatment.
