Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The state received a significant Rs 656.42 crore in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) contributions from 717 companies during the financial year 2023, according to official data. These funds were utilised across a range of development projects aimed at improving the lives of people across the state.
The highest CSR spending was directed towards healthcare (Rs 253.01 crore), followed by education (Rs 227.03 crore) and rural development (Rs 87.68 crore). These sectors together accounted for the lion’s share of the CSR initiatives.
Among the top contributors were MP Agrotonics Limited (Rs 112.37 crore), Northern Coalfields Limited (Rs 84.65 crore) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (Rs 44.43 crore). In a noteworthy project, 55 villages in Chhatarpur district were illuminated with solar and LED lighting, benefiting over 70,000 people.
The initiative, executed in collaboration with Haitika NGO, has enhanced women’s safety, promoted tourism, improved security and contributed to socio-economic development through sustainable energy solutions.
Another impactful CSR initiative saw Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages, in partnership with the Y4D Foundation, install two advanced digital smart boards at the Government Higher Secondary School in Banda, Sagar district, strengthening digital learning infrastructure in rural areas.
