Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): With a war-like situation with Pakistan, Bhopal administration and police are on alert mode. After the mock drill on Wednesday, officials are working on enhancing the emergency response system and upgrading available resources to counter any disaster and untoward situation.
District Magistrate (DM) Kaushalendra Vikram Singh and Police Commissioner Harinarayanachari Mishra reviewed the emergency response system in a meeting held on Thursday with top officials of concerned departments including administration, police, SDRF, health and Nagar Nigam.
Officials said that a centralised air raid siren system will be installed and its frequency will be enhanced to alert citizens and concerned teams.
Officials said that teams of different departments along with Civil Defence showed excellent coordination during the mock drill. However, there is a need for more awareness among the public as many of the citizens were unaware of the drill and the reasons behind blackout on Wednesday night.
Moreover, lights of traffic signals, sign boards and some government departments were also found switched on during the blackout.
BMC officials said that the firefighting system will be strengthened and will be upgraded as similar to the fire brigade of the airport. The capacity and firefighting equipment along with the number of firefighters will be increased to counter emergency situations.
Police Commissioner Harinarayanachari Mishra said teams of different departments worked in coordination during the mock drill. Police will continue to conduct such drills and training sessions with the concerned departments for better response during emergency situations.
