Former Indian team head coach Ravi Shastri says that India should select Sai Sudarshan for the five-match Test series against England. Shastri believes that keeping Sudarshan in the team can be beneficial for India as he has knowledge of the conditions in England. Sudarshan has played several times for the Surrey team in the county season.

Tour to be held in June
In 2023, Sudarshan scored 116 runs in two matches at an average of 38.66. He scored a century against Nottinghamshire last year and scored 165 runs in three matches. India is scheduled to tour England in June for a five-match Test series after IPL 2025. India will start the next cycle of the World Test Championship (WTC) with this tour.
Shastri said in the ICC Review program, I think this young player Sai Sudarshan is a player of every format. He is a brilliant cricketer. Being a sharp batsman and technically skilled in England conditions, I would like him to be in the Indian team. I think he will be at the top of the list of outsiders wanting to join this team.
Sudarshan is in great form.
Sai Sudarshan is in great form in the IPL 2025 season. He is second in the list of highest run-scorers in the IPL this season with 456 runs. Sudarshan has scored five half-centuries in nine matches and his highest score is 82 runs. The Test series between India and England will start from June 20, the first match of which will be played at Headingley.

Shastri said that Shreyas Iyer, who is in form in limited overs cricket and IPL for India, can also be selected, but he will have to face tough competition. Shastri said, Shreyas can make a comeback but the competition will be tough. His selection is certain in the white ball format, but in Test cricket, it has to be seen who the rest of the players are.
