WrestleMania 41: Rey Fenix to step in for Rey Mysterio?

Rey Mysterio is set to take on El Grande Americano at WrestleMania 41 in what promises to be an intense affair. This match may, however, now have to be called off as the veteran apparently injured himself on the latest episode of SmackDown. If this is indeed the case, the WWE could replace the Hall of Famer with Rey Fenix. 

Rey Mysterio injured on SmackDown?

Rey Mysterio teamed up with Dragon Lee and Rey Fenix to take on American Made on tonight’s episode of the blue brand. His team picked up the win but the veteran could not complete the match. The star landed awkwardly on his foot/ankle. 

In a video on X (formerly known as Twitter), he is seen being carried to the back after the incident.

 He apparently told Fenix about the injury, which is said to have occurred in the dying moments of the match. 

Rey Fenix to replace Rey Mysterio at WrestleMania 41?

Going by what transpired tonight, there is a possibility of Mysterio not being able to compete at WrestleMania 41. In this case, the WWE may choose Rey Fenix as his replacement. El Grande eliminated the newcomer from the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal during this week’s SmackDown. 

An official update about Mysterio’s status is expected in the next few hours. WrestleMania 41 will be held in Las Vegas this weekend.
