On the occasion of World Health Day , actor Arav Chowdharry opened up in an exclusive chat with Times of India TV, about his approach to health and fitness—one that is grounded, flexible, and deeply self-motivated. Known for his commitment to staying fit both physically and mentally, Arav shared insights into his daily routine, diet, mindset, and fitness philosophy that inspires fans across the country.
On his diet plan
For Arav, diet isn’t about complicated charts or restrictive plans. “I eat lots of fruits, I eat proteins, I drink whey protein, and I eat eggs during the day,” he says. Despite having a sweet tooth, Arav has consciously stayed away from sweets for the last four months. His regular meals are simple and wholesome—dal, roti, rice, rajma, and paneer—always cooked without any gravy. “Simple food is powerful,” he adds.
A Fitness Routine That Follows Him Everywhere
Arav’s workout philosophy is all about adaptability. “If the weather is good, I go for a run. If I get a chance, I go swimming. Ghudsawari (horse riding) is always with me. Apart from that, a gym is everywhere—in a city, a village, in snow, heat, or storm, I always find a way,” he says passionately. Even in the remotest of places, he finds ways to stay fit using just a few dumbbells or basic equipment. His weekly target is 5-6 workout sessions, each ranging from 45 minutes to two hours.
Making Time Despite a Hectic Schedule
With long and unpredictable shooting hours, Arav admits that sleep often takes a backseat. “Sometimes we shoot for 12, 17, even 20 hours. I manage by sleeping just 3 to 5 hours. The rest of the time, I squeeze in my gym session. You just have to find time, no excuses,” he insists.

“To everyone reading this—wherever you are, whatever you do—make time for some form of exercise daily. Walk, run, swim, go to the gym, do free-hand workouts—find what suits you. Just do it. Health is everything,” Arav emphasizes.
Mental Health: Live in the Moment
On staying mentally fit, Arav shares his spiritual side. “Meditate on the name of God. Live in the moment, smile, spread happiness, and surround yourself with laughter and love. That’s how you stay mentally strong.”
His Ultimate Fitness Inspiration
“My fitness icon is Pawanputra Bajrang Bali Hanuman,” Arav says with pride. He also draws inspiration from Indian legends like Manohar Aich, Dhyanchand, and international icons like Muhammad Ali, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Lee Haney. “Manohar Aich was training people at 101—he’s the perfect example of dedication.”
Arav’s message this World Health Day is clear: “Don’t wait for motivation. Find your way to stay healthy—physically, mentally, and emotionally. Health is your greatest wealth.”
